1) HS611-200-CSP— Return-Line / Pressure-Leg Guard Element

What it is

A disposable pleated filter element installed inside a pipe-mounted canister on the hydraulic return (or sometimes low-pressure pump-discharge guard). The canister head will have a flow arrow stamped on it — oil goes the way the arrow points.

The suffix letters suggest a standard seal/hardware option for this family:

• The seal is the usual NBR nitrile (black/dark grey, mineral-oil duty).

  
  

• “SP/CSP” usually marks a spring/bypass configuration chosen when the filter was originally specified — treat it as “part of the element identity” and don’t drop it when ordering.

  
  

How to confirm before fitting

1. Read the housing nameplate near the ports: it should show a model starting with HS611…, plus pressure rating (bar) and port size.

   
   

2. Set the old element next to the new one: same height / OD / centre-hole (ruler check).

   
   

3. O-ring colour must be black/dark grey. If it is brown/red, stop — you may be looking at a Viton version and need the correct spare.

   
   

Replacement — safe sequence

1. Stop pump → open vent/bleed until pressure = 0.

   
   

2. Support bowl (don’t hang it on piping) → open clamp/retainer.

   
   

3. Pull element straight out; check bowl bottom for bright metal shavings (pump/gear wear).

   
   

4. Wipe sealing face → thin film clean hydraulic oil on O-ring (no grease).

   
   

5. Seat element square on centre support tube → close vent slowly → ΔP indicator green, no seep.

“HS611-200-CSP — element for HS611-200 housing only; confirm against head nameplate model; require supplier to state OD / height / centre bore / seal compound before delivery — no ‘same size’ substitute.”

2) DM839-00-C— Return-Line Canister Element (NBR)

What it is

A disposable pleated element for the DM-series return canister (pipe-mounted, clamp-band bowl, flow arrow on head).

• 839 = size/flow class (different OD/length from 830 — they do not interchange).

  
  

• 00 = standard configuration (no drain cock/heater etc. unless the head casting already has them).

  
  

• C = NBR (black/dark grey O-ring).

  
  

How to confirm before fitting

• Head nameplate should read DM839… near the ports (flow arrow + pressure bar + port info).

  
  

• Ruler-check: new element’s height / OD / centre-hole matches the old one.

  
  

• O-ring colour = black/dark grey (NBR). Brown/red = wrong compound for “C”.

  
  

Replacement — same short sequence

1. Stop pump → vent until 0 bar.

   
   

2. Support bowl → clamp off → pull element straight out.

   
   

3. Inspect for metal shavings → wipe seal land → thin oil on O-ring → seat square → close vent → green & dry.

Field rule (keeps it foolproof)

If the nameplate paint is flaked, skip the guessing:

stand the old element upright, put a ruler against it, and write down H = ___ mm / OD = ___ mm on the BOM line.

After that, even a new storeman can’t “accidentally” give you a 839 when you need something else — because the numbers won’t match.
