High-Performance Hydraulic Oil Filters – Models FC-1824 & FC-1503

Two spin-on hydraulic filter cartridges from the same FC-series family, covering compact return/steering loops and mid-size main return circuits on mobile equipment and industrial power units. FC-1503 is the smaller canister (3/4-16 UNF thread, ~70–80 mm OD × ~150–170 mm length) for mini excavators, skid steers, and agricultural tractor auxiliary circuits. FC-1824 is the larger sibling (1-12 UNF or M20×1.5 class, ~93–100 mm OD × ~210–240 mm) for mid-size wheel loaders, excavators (20–30 t class), and compressor-lube loops where higher dirt-holding is required.

Application Guidance

FC-1503 – Compact return, steering-return, or pilot-loop filtration on mini excavators (3–6 t class), skid steer loaders, telehandlers, and agricultural tractors. The 3/4-16 UNF head and ~70–80 mm OD fit tight bays where a larger spin-on would clash with the engine block or loader arm. Also deployable as compressor-lube or PTO-loop guard on compact power packs.

FC-1824 – Main return-line or pump-discharge guard on 20–30 t excavators, wheel loaders, and industrial hydraulic power units. The taller canister and 1-12 UNF head deliver extended service intervals in dusty construction cycles. Can also serve as a cooler-loop filter on compressor skids and generator hydraulic packages.

⚠️ Thread mismatch: FC-1503 = 3/4-16 UNF (small head), FC-1824 = 1-12 UNF or M20×1.5 (large head) — not head-interchangeable. Confirm your filter head thread before ordering; some FC-1824 sub-revisions use M20×1.5 instead of 1-12 UNF depending on the head pattern.

Installation & Service

1. Clean filter head face; inspect threads, center tube, and gasket groove.

   
   

2. Lubricate gasket with clean hydraulic oil, spin on by hand until seated + ¾ turn. No strap wrench on the canister — over-torque deforms the rolled shell and cracks the bypass seat.

   
   

3. For pressure-line or pump-guard placement: pre-fill if head design allows to reduce startup starvation.

   
   

4. For return duty: confirm flow arrow (canister → head) and bypass direction before closing.

   
   

5. Replace per OEM interval (FC-1503 ~1000–1500 h compact duty; FC-1824 ~2000 h construction duty) or when ΔP reaches bypass setting.

   
   

6. In dusty environments (quarry, demolition), shorten interval 30–40 % — the indicator will climb faster than hour-meter suggests.
