Heavy-Duty Fuel Filter Pair – Models 600-311-3550 & 600-311-4510

Two spin-on fuel filters from the same heavy-duty platform family, covering primary and pre-filter duties across large excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks, and dozers. 600-311-3550 is the larger canister (1 5/8-12 UNF thread) specified as a primary fuel filter on 100+ ton excavators and 70–90 t class dump trucks, while 600-311-4510 is a slightly slimmer pre-fuel / secondary spin-on (1 1/4-12 UNS-2B) for 40–50 t excavators, large wheel loaders, and mid-size dumpers. Both use high-efficiency cellulose/composite media and carry bypass protection, and a glass-fiber 10–15 µm variant of each is optionally offered for hydraulic-auxiliary or compressor-lube duty on the same chassis.

600-311-3550 – Primary fuel filtration on PC2000-8 excavators, HD785-7 dump trucks, HM350-2 / HM400-2 articulated dumpsters, and SAA6D140E-class engine platforms. The 1 5/8-12 UNF large-bore head handles high fuel-flow demand from 23–46 L displacement diesels under continuous mining/quarry load. Also crosses to common BF7948 / P553500 / 33948 patterns.

600-311-4510 – Pre-fuel / secondary fuel duty on PC400LC-8, PC450LC-8 excavators; WA470-5/6, WA480-5/6, WA500-6/6R wheel loaders; HD255-5, HD325-7, HD405-6/7 dump trucks; HM250/300/350/400 articulated dumpsters; D85EX-15R / D85PX-15R dozers; GD825A-2E0 motor graders. Engine coverage spans SA6D125E-3, SA6D140E-3/5, SAA12V140E families. Crosses to BF1288-O / H549WK / 33942 patterns. The "pre-fuel" positioning means a slightly coarser grade than the primary — pair it upstream of the main 3550-type canister on dual-filter heads, or standalone on mid-size platforms.

📎 When ordering glass-fiber hyd-aux variants for compressor-lube or PTO-hyd loops on the same chassis, specify 10–15 µm / β₁₀ ≥ 200 — the standard fuel-spec cellulose should remain on fuel duty.

Installation & Service

1. Clean filter head face; inspect center tube, threads, and drain-bowl O-ring (water-sep heads).

   
   

2. Lubricate gasket with clean diesel, spin on by hand until seated + ¾ turn. No strap wrench on the canister.

   
   

3. Prime fuel system per engine procedure; bleed air at head before load. For water-sep heads, drain bowl at each service.

   
   

4. Replace per OEM hour/km interval (typical 500 h mining / 250–500 h general construction) or when ΔP / water indicator signals.

   
   

5. On dual-filter heads (pre + primary), replace both together to maintain staged efficiency.
