What to check before fitting

1. Read the metal nameplate on the filter head (near inlet/outlet ports):

   it must show the model containing PS312…, max working pressure (often up to ~350–420 bar class), port size/type (SAE flange or metric thread), and a FLOW ARROW.

   
   

2. Ruler-check the old element: confirm height / outer diameter / centre-hole — especially important if more than one PS312 length lives on the same skid.

   
   

3. O-ring colour: black/dark grey = NBR base; brown/red = likely not “plain C” — stop and verify fluid/temperature spec before forcing a black NBR spare.

   
   

Replacement — pressure-side (extra care)

1. Close upstream isolation if fitted → bleed slowly at the head vent until gauge reads 0 bar and no more hissing.

   
   

2. Support the bowl — heavy hardware; don’t let it hang on piping.

   
   

3. Release retainer → lift element straight out (follow the flow arrow on the head; some pull up, some pull down).

   
   

4. Check bowl bottom for bright metal shavings (pump/valve wear — report it).

   
   

5. Wipe sealing faces → thin film of clean hydraulic oil on the O-ring (no grease, no sealant).

   
   

6. Seat element square on centre support (off-centre under pressure = bypass or crush risk).

   
   

7. Reassemble → torque evenly → close vent.

   
   

8. Bring pressure up slowly → stay close for first few minutes and watch for leaks.

What it is

A plant stock/material number (ERP number / bin label). It could be:

• a filter element for a specific housing, or

  
  

• a seal/repair kit (O-rings, gaskets, drain plug seal…), or

  
  

• a small breather/desiccant/auxiliary cartridge depending on your plant’s coding

  
  

How to qualify it (one minute)

• Check the bag/bin label (or the BOM line): does it say “element / cartridge” or “seal kit / repair kit / O-ring kit”?

  
  

• If it is an element: carry it to the filter it belongs to and match it to the housing nameplate model (ports + pressure + flow arrow) and the old element dimensions (height, OD, centre hole).

  
  

• If it is a kit: use it only for the equipment/model the BOM states — not as a filter element.
