Hydraulic Oil Filter Element – Product Detail

These filter elements (22532378 / 22496905) are designed for auxiliary oil circuits in rotating machinery such as steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and generators. They remove particulate contaminants and degradation by‑products from mineral or synthetic oils, protecting seals, servo valves, bearings, and control components.

Construction

Each element uses a pleated glass‑microfiber media (resin‑impregnated, β₁₀ ≥ 200) supported by a perforated steel centre tube and an outer galvanised‑steel retainer cage. End caps are epoxy‑bonded steel. The seal groove accepts either nitrile (NBR) or fluorocarbon (FKM) O‑rings depending on the variant. A bypass valve (typically 1.0–1.5 bar) is integrated in the mating head, not the element. Collapse pressure rating is 10 bar for low‑pressure return circuits and 21 bar for pressure/seal circuits.

Selection Guidance

Select 22532378 (FKM, 3–5 µm, 21 bar) for phosphate‑ester EH circuits, synthetic servo oils, or any pressure leg exceeding 10 bar working pressure. Select 22496905 (NBR, 10 µm, 10 bar) for standard mineral turbine oil (ISO VG 32/46) on low‑pressure return or seal‑oil supply lines where temperature remains below 80 °C. Do not install a 10‑bar element in a 21‑bar circuit – collapse failure may occur.

Maintenance

Replace element when differential pressure reaches 1.5–2.0 bar or per OEM schedule (typically 2 000–4 000 operating hours for lube return, 500–1 000 hours for EH/servo circuits). Always replace the O‑ring with the same polymer as the element. During element change, inspect the bypass valve seat in the head and the test port for debris. Store in a cool, dry environment away from UV and ozone.
